Circular runout and twisting of shafts
Presentation
Optical quality control system accurately measures different dimensions of shafts in less than 3 seconds. We are using camera with high resolution and telecentric optic. One pixel corresponds to a length of 0.02 mm on the measured object, but the use of interpolation allowed us to measure dimensions more accurately.
40 images of each shaft are taken during 720 degrees rotation at an angular speed of 360 degrees per second. This allows us detect asymmetric defects such as bending of the shaft, which is defined by maximum circular runout relative to the central axis.
Lengths and diameters are measured with 10 micrometre accuracy and 1 micrometre precision while the circular runout is measured with 2 micrometre accuracy and 1 micrometre precision.
