Concentricity check of the bores and measuring the inner diameter of the glow plug

Presentation

The device checks every glow plug that comes out of the lathe. The glow plug is taken from the belt by the robot and transferred to the blowing chamber, where the excess oil and shavings are removed. Then it takes the piece to the measuring point, where we check the dimensions and the presence of the thread with a camera. With the help of a camera, the robot grasps the piece in a precisely defined place and inserts it into the control station.

At the inspection station, we have a gripper that holds the piece and two movable measuring heads. The first head has a control caliper for concentricity, which is moved through the spark plug housing. If the holes are not concentric, too much force is generated during the movement and the process stops. As long as the torque of the caliper movement through the spark plug is within the set limits, the concentricity of the bores is good. Then, from the other side, systems inserts the measuring head to the desired depth and measure the inner diameter at several set depths.

If all the parameters are within the permissible deviations, the second robot picks up the glow plug housing and puts it in a box.
